1. HOUSES IN FRANCE
The French prefer to live in
individual houses. They love to have a garden and of course,
gardening is one of their favorite hobbies. The French spend
quite a lot of money on their houses. They just love having a
beautiful garden, with flowering plants and trees. That’s
why ‘Le concours des villages et des villes fleuris’,
which is a competition for beautiful gardens and parks, is getting
more and more popular.

2. DIFFERENT TYPES OF HOUSES

The French choose to live in
a place of their own either
in the heart of the city (centre-ville) or in the suburbs (banlieue).
When people can afford it, they would
rather live in a small but
independent house (villa) than in an apartment. Since life is getting
more hectic, people are eager
to settle down in a country
house (maison de campagne). Students usually live in a studio when
they can’t have a room on campus.

3. HLM – HABITATION A LOYER MODERE
HLM is another type of housing
that helps families with low income to get houses at low
rents.
HLM used to provide apartments in buildings but nowadays,
they
also provide small individual houses with a tiny patch of
garden.
Earlier, HLM buildings were usually located in the
suburbs, but
now, they try and find places in the town itself.
